Students and Parents,

I hope everyone has a great week!

In Foundations of Math II this week, the Unit 3 tests were passed back. Any student wishing to retest needs to do so during husky help next week so that I can grade them and put them in PowerSchool before the quarter ends on Friday. We began Unit 4 on Monday with domain and range. This is difficult concept but it will be used in every math class beyond Math II so it is important that each student understands it. Encourage your student to ask question and see me if he/she needs extra help. We also started transformations (translations, reflections, and dilations). Next week we will continue with transformations and begin piecewise functions.

There will be a quiz on Monday (10/19) on domain, range and transformations.

In Pre-Calculus this week, the Unit 3 tests were passed back. Any student wishing to retest needs to do so either in Husky Help on Tuesday or after school Tuesday so that they can be graded and put into PowerSchool before the quarter ends on Friday. We began Unit 4 on Monday, which is an introduction to trigonometry. We started with DMS (degree-minute-second), radians and degrees, and arc length. Then we moved on to the Unit Circle, which is definitely a requirement for the next few units, as well as calculus. The Unit Circle will be something that will be used A LOT! We took a quiz on it today, and they look awesome! Check PowerSchool for grades. Next week, we will focus on graphing and transformations of trig functions.

Also, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be the Language Project presentations. Your student knows which day he/she is to present. If absent on this day, make sure projects are emailed to me (lwinstead2@wcpss.net) so as to not receive a late grade.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best,

Ms. Winstead
