Week of 2/2 – 2/6

Students and Parents,

In Math II this week, we finished up Unit 1.  We reviewed on Monday and took the Test on Tuesday.  1st period had an average of 74% and 3rd period had an average of 80%.  Remember, any student who wishes to retake this test needs to come see me to remediate first.  This will only take about 20 minutes.  This can happen before school, during Husky Help (which starts on Monday) and after school.  I am available after school for remediation every day next week, except for Monday.  For the remainder of the week, we began Unit 2 by learning about the quadratic formula and graphing inequalities.  We will take a quiz on this info on Monday 2/9.  We will finish up Unit 2 on Tuesday of next week, so we will Review on Wednesday and Test on Thursday.  Your students received their first project in class today.  This project is due next Friday, February 13.

In Pre-Calculus this week, we finished up Unit 1.  We reviewed on Tuesday and took the Test on Wednesday.  The class average was an 80% which I was very pleased with.  Remember, any student who wishes to retake this test needs to come see me to remediate first.  This will only take about 20 minutes.  This can happen before school, during Husky Help (which starts on Monday) and after school.  I am available after school for remediation every day next week, except for Monday.  For the rest of the week, we began Unit 4.  I know this seems a bit out of order.  Mrs. Fehling, the other Pre-Calculus teacher, is pregnant and going out on maternity leave around Spring Break, so we have decided to re-order the units so that she will still be here to teach her students the “harder” units.  In order to stay on pace with her, I am also reordering the units.  We will go back to Units 2 and 3 after Spring Break.  We will take a quiz on the Unit Circle on Wednesday of next week.  You students are currently working on a project that will be due on February 20.  All the information on this project can be found on my website (huskymath.com) under the Pre-Calculus tab.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Best,

Ms. Winstead
