Students and Parents,
This week has been great! I am so encouraged with the amount of effort your students are putting in every day. Wonderful things are happening over here at HHS!
In Foundations of Geometry this week, we continued to work with Trigonometry. After learning about sine, cosine, and tangent, your students had to use those ratios to find missing side lengths and angle measures of right triangles. Once they got the hang of this, we learned about the Law of Sines, which allows us to find missing side lengths and angle measure of non-right triangles. We finished up the week with finding the area of triangles. The students are used to using A = (1/2)base x height, but this is mainly used for right triangles, so we learned how to find the area of a non-right triangle. Next week, we will finish up this unit with the Law of Cosines and then review and take the test on Friday.
In Pre-Calculus this week, we finished up unit 5, Analytic Trigonometry. We learned about 14 new identities that are helpful in solving trig problems. We took a quiz on these identities and the students know that they can replace this quiz with the test on Wednesday of next week if they are not satisfied with their grade. Later in the week, we learned about the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines, which allows us to find missing side lengths and angle measures of non-right triangles. We applied the law of Sines and the Law of Cosines to real-world situations in class today. Next week, we will review and take the Unit 5 Test. Remember students, you have a project due on Tuesday (Sinusoidal Function Project)!!!!!
Have a wonderful long weekend and make sure to say thanks to a Veteran!
